Simple Seitan Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Wheat Gluten
- 3/4 cup water or vegetable broth
- 2 tablespoons tamari sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions:
- Combine Ingredients: Mix wheat gluten, garlic powder, onion powder, and optional spices in a bowl. Add water and tamari; mix until a dough forms.
- Knead: Knead the dough on a flat surface for 2-3 minutes until elastic.
- Shape: Form the dough into a loaf or desired shapes.
- Cook: Choose one method:
Boil: Wrap in cheesecloth, and simmer in broth for 40-60 minutes.
Steam: Steam in a basket for 30-40 minutes.
Bake: Bake at 350°F for 60-75 minutes, flipping halfway.
