Red Lentils - Australian
Colourful and flavourful our red split lentils are sourced from right here in Australia. This lentil is orange in colour with a nutty aroma and flavour. No soaking is required and quickly prepared, this lentil works great in salads and burgers, and thanks to their creamy texture, red lentils are perfect when blended into a soup or a curry and offer plenty of plant-based nutrition. Our premium Red Split Lentils are organically grown and processed. They have no added preservatives and chemicals in our red split lentils.
How to use:
Unlike whole lentils, Red Split Lentils cook more quickly, so pre-soaking is not necessary. However, if you choose to soak this product for 30-60 minutes you can reduce the Saponin, which is a natural substance found in most lentils and pulses which can inhibit the absorption of some nutrients. It is possible to add uncooked red lentils to curries and hot pots after rinsing and simmering until soft. Red split lentils are commonly used for preparing Indian Dahl’s and delicious lentil soups; add vegetables with spice, then add water or stock as needed until it gets thicker.
Prepare red lentils by rinsing well and boiling in 1:5 water. After boiling for 10 minutes, reduce heat to a simmer and cook for another 5-10 minutes, or until the lentils are soft, but still intact.
Cooked lentils can be eaten whole in salads or burgers with Besan flour, spices, and fresh herbs, or pureed to thicken soups and sauces.
