Classic Scones Recipe
Ingredients:
• 2 cups Self-Raising Flour
• 1 tbsp sugar
• 60g cold butter (cubed)
• 3/4 cup milk
• A pinch of salt
• Optional: Jam and cream for serving
Method:
1. Preheat your oven to 220°C (200°C fan-forced).
2. In a large bowl, combine self-raising flour, sugar, and salt.
3. Add cold butter and rub into the flour mixture with your fingertips until it resembles fine breadcrumbs.
4. Make a well in the center and gradually pour in the milk, stirring with a butter knife until a soft dough forms.
5. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead until smooth (avoid overworking the dough).
6. Roll out the dough to about 2 cm thickness and cut out rounds using a cookie cutter or glass.
7. Place scones on a lined baking tray, close together but not touching.
8. Brush the tops with a little milk and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
9. Serve warm with your favorite jam and cream.
